5 Decorating Tips to Create a Warm and Elegant Atmosphere On Board

The saloon is the true heart of life on board a BALI Catamaran. Open to the sea thanks to the Open Space concept and the signature tilting door, it offers a bright and welcoming living area where comfort and design naturally come together. Here are five decorating principles inspired by our latest project to create a warm, elegant, and harmonious atmosphere on board.

1. Play with Textures to Add Depth

Rather than multiplying colours, we focused on combining different materials and finishes. The cushions feature three complementary styles: smooth mustard cotton, textured beige fabric with subtle raised stripes, and tufted cushions with soft sky-blue accents. This mix creates visual depth while maintaining a cohesive look.

2. Introduce a Signature Colour

We selected an aubergine shade with subtle plum and rose undertones, repeated throughout several decorative elements. Stoneware dinner plates, smoky pink glassware and an aubergine cotton gauze throw create a refined visual thread that ties the entire space together without overwhelming it.

3. Embrace Natural Materials

A boat is inherently connected to its surroundings, making natural materials an obvious choice. Raffia placemats, rattan napkin rings and sky-blue linen napkins bring warmth, authenticity and a relaxed sophistication that perfectly complements life at sea.

4. Choose Decorative Pieces with Character

A few carefully selected accessories can completely transform an interior. A textured fruit bowl, a fluted glass vase or handcrafted tableware add personality and visual interest while preserving a clean and elegant aesthetic.

5. Create Visual Connections

The most successful interiors are often built around subtle details. The smoky glass pitcher echoes the glassware, while the warm tones of the accessories complement the cushions and table settings. These thoughtful connections create a sense of balance and harmony throughout the space.

A successful onboard interior is all about balance. By combining natural materials, varied textures and carefully selected accent colours, it is possible to create a living space that feels both elegant and inviting. Sometimes, a few well-chosen details are all it takes to transform a saloon into a place where unforgettable moments are shared at sea.
