Sailing with Gidget: Chris and Michelle – From Dream to Reality Aboard Their Bali Catspace
Originally from Calgary, in western Canada, nestled at the foot of the Rocky Mountains and hundreds of kilometers from the ocean, Chris and Michelle decided to leave everything behind for a life of adventure. Burned out by their entrepreneurial lifestyle, they traded stress for freedom, setting sail aboard their Bali Catspace, named Gidget — after their spirited little dog, who also stars on their YouTube channel Sailing with Gidget.
Their dream of living aboard a catamaran took nearly ten years to come true. With no sailing experience at first, they completed sailing courses in Canada, including with Sail Canada in Vancouver, followed by catamaran-specific training and an ICC certification in Virginia. This preparation gave them the confidence they needed to finally cast off.
Drawn to the modern and clever design of the Bali Catspace, they chose a new “Owner’s Version” model, offering optimal comfort and a personalized layout tailored to their lifestyle.
Today, what was once their biggest challenge — leaving their old life behind — has become their greatest reward. Through their videos, they’ve built a growing community that follows their journey and shares their passion for life at sea.
